The Pileated Woodpecker, Dryocopus pileatus, is widespread but uncommon, sparsely distributed in mature hardwood forests. The size of a crow with white wing patch and red crest, it is unmistakable. This one was feeding in Jenkins Arboretum, in Devon, Pennsylvania.
